The Lesson Plan I found by Becky Spies was using Flickr for a writing assignment. “Each student will upload their own picture on Flickr and add text within the picture that reflects their poem.” This is a great way for students to take a picture that has meaning to them and then write about it. They would feel that they have more ownership in this project.
I plan to do something similar in collaboration with the English Department. We would collect several pictures from the art department then have the English Department students choose the pictures they want to write about and then the orchestra would provide music to put in an iMovie.
